Dubai Furnished Apartment - UK tourists rush to visit Dubai as rates drop 17%

Holidaymakers from the UK are rushing to book cut price hotel rooms in Dubai for early 2010 as prices are set to be 17 percent lower than in the first half of this year.

Online searches for hotels in Dubai have risen by 570 percent since Dubai World's announcement on its plans to restructure $26bn worth of debt, industry website Hotel News Now reported.

Figures show that the average price of a five-star hotel room in the city for January 2010 will be 17 percent cheaper than in the first half of 2009.

Average prices quoted for January were 144 pounds ($234), compared to 174 pounds in H1 2009, it added.

Research showed that a five-star weekend break in mid-January starts from as little as 74 pounds per night.

Dubai has been experiencing falling rates for some time, as the global downturn, compounded by an oversupply of hotel rooms in the city, which is set to hit in 2010.

Alison Couper says: "Dubai is great value at the moment. There are some fantastic promotions from hoteliers in the city as they try to attract customers, meaning there has never been a better time for travellers to stay in some of the world's top properties for a great price."
